HYSTER Europe is owned by the Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Group Inc.(Hyster-Yale group), a global organisation based in Cleveland, Ohio embracing coal production, kitchen equipment and household products. HYSTER began supplying materials handling equipment in 1929, when it began making winches, logging arches and lumber carriers for the North American Timber Industry. The HYSTER name is derived from the logging foreman's instruction to his winch operator to "Hoist' err".

HYSTER Europe is responsible for sales, marketing and service across Europe, Africa and the Middle East - working closely with its network of seventy-three dealers (including Irish Lift Trucks), in almost 100 locations. There are 5 manufacturing plants across Europe at:

  1. Nijmegen, Netherlands (Big Trucks/Reachstackers)
  2. Masate, Italy (Warehouse Trucks)
  3. Craigavon, Co. Armagh, Ireland (Counterbalance Trucks)

The Craigavon facility, in Co. Armagh, was opened in 1981 and is one of the most up-to-date lift truck manufacturing facilities in the world. The plant employs around 800 people and is capable of producing over 100 trucks per day, including the best selling H1.50-2.00XMS and H2.00-3.20XM lift truck series.

HYSTER's progress over the past 70 years has been characterised by continuous investment in research, product development and advanced manufacturing techniques. It's a successful formula and one that is intended to keep the HYSTER name at the forefront of the industry in the years ahead.
